The pressure of the blood being pumped through the arteries is higher during hypertension. It is of two types of high blood pressure primary and secondary. Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood against the blood vessels walls, and the magnitude of this force only depends on the cardiac output and the resistance of the blood vessels. The hypertension generally does not cause any symptoms but the long term hypertension causes a major risk factor for heart failure, coronary artery disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, vision loss, and chronic kidney disease.
